Description:A biographical and historical study of the origins of my paternal grandfather, William Harold Hennessy (1888-1927), about whom "little was known" when it was discovered his family name was not his birth-registered surname. The historical and sociological context of this family history is New South Wales and Victoria in Australia from 1829 when my ancestor, Robert Barry, arrived in Sydney on the convict ship, "Eliza II" from Ireland. The Irish roots are mainly in Counties Waterford, Tipperary and Cork, commencing in 1707 and concluding during the period and aftermath of the Great Famine 1845-1851. The English roots are in Topsham, Devon. The narrative describes aspects of my research journey that commenced with just a few presumed truths and concluded with some questions unresolved and many "skeletons in the closet" exposed. In so doing, it reveals the challenges of dealing with the inaccuracies, omissions and fabrications often present in official records, particularly those pertaining to births, marriages and deaths. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
