Description:When Washington, DC journalist Max Peterson learns that his former employee, Nicolle Cosgrove is still alive, he is thrust into a dangerous labyrinth which will threaten his very life. Fifteen years before, she had mysteriously disappeared while attending a global conference in Vienna. She and her colleague, Paul Morrow, were presumed dead. Max had been secretly in love with Nicolle and was devastated by her loss. Max will soon learn the terrible truth behind Nicolle’s disappearance. Nicolle and Paul had secretly been on a mission to discover what really happened to Nicole’s mother and Paul’s father during World War Two. Their two parents had discovered a diabolical plot devised by the Vatican to help Hitler procure the atomic bomb to be used against Communist Russia. The Vatican had swooped in and condemned them to a life of imprisonment in a monastery and a convent. Paul’s father is now dead, but Nicolle’s mother, Gabrielle, is still alive and still hidden in a Swiss convent. Nicolle and Paul managed to escape the churchmen and were now living secretly in Canada with new identities. When one of the churchmen discovers that Nicolle and Paul are still alive and a diary detailing the plot could still be exposed, he mounts an odious plan to enlist the aid of killer monks to find them and the diary and destroy both forever. He also discovers that Max Peterson knows about the plot and wants to eliminate him as well. But a paid assassin named Roget is able to spirit Max out of DC to safety. Aided by Gabrielle’s friend, Henri Berthiume and Roget, Gabrielle is able to escape the convent and be rejoined with her daughter and her now husband Paul in a secret chalet high in the Austrian Alps. Max also is safe in the chalet with Henri’s daughter who had been a young nun in Gabrielle’s convent. But the churchmen discover their hiding place and enlist a group of monk assassins to destroy all of them.What will happen to the terrified escapees hiding in the chalet? Will they be destroyed by the fanatical churchmen? Will the diary ever see the light of day?
