Introduction into the Island of breeding cattle for the purpose Of developing the cattle industry, was mentioned in detail and it was stated at the time that inasmuch as the proposi tion of this Department was looked upon by the said authority in a favorable light and the necessary appropriations having been authorized, a trustworthy employee of acknowledged fitness was specially appointed to acquire said cattle in the Republic of Mexico, where, according to experience, the cattle easiest of becoming acclimatized in this country are bred.
