Description:Excerpt from Proceedings of the Bostonian Society: At the Annual Meeting, January 14, 1908 The Twenty-seventh Annual Meeting of the Bostonian Society was held in the Council Chamber of the Old State House, Boston, on Tuesday, January 14, 1908, at 3 P. M., in accordance with a notice mailed to every member. President James F. Hunncwell occupied the chair, and the records of the last annual and monthly meetings were read by the Clerk, and approved. President Hunnewell then delivered his Annual Address, as follows: - Fellow Members of the Bostonian Society: Through more than a quarter of a century the Bostonian Society has actively engaged in its great purpose of collecting and saving the various materials of the history of Boston and its inhabitants. It has done its full part in preserving our oldest civic building, associated with our corporate life almost from the beginning. It has gathered a library of books, pamphlets, and other printed matter, and also portraits, local maps and views, of great rarity and value, and a large number of objects that farther illustrate local life.
